No snares are allowed for trapping in washington from my understanding, sure you can catch coyotes in cage traps. Goodluck getting one ever to go in one. They were saying it virtually never happens. :dunno:
PolarBear:
Years ago I caught bobcats in cage traps but only one coyote and it was a pup. Back when snares were legal I cleaned up on coyotes. I knew that snares were outlawed but wasn't sure if there was a provision for licensed trappers or not. It would be more than worth the couple hundred bucks to me to buy a trapper's license if I could snare song dogs.
Smossy:
All body holding traps are a nogo theres one you can get with a special permit but I dont know the exact information. Trappers class is free, and the license is only $41.60
Humptulips:
There is no provision for the use of neck snares in WA. Not legal under any circumstances.
There is a permit process for non-strangling foot snares but I don't know anyone useing them except for bear damage complaints. Historically that is the only use for them.

Ok, I took all the paperwork to WDFW at 8:30 today. Dan was out of the office this morning, but his assistant assured me he will process the certificates quickly. Thanks everybody for coming to the class, post pictures and stories when you start catching stuff!
