What is this?
« on: January 12, 2012, 05:08:41 PM »
I just set up a camera last Sunday for elk, and did get some elk pictures but also got a picture that is too dark of something and I'm not sure what it is. Looks like probably a coyote but I'm not 100% certain. Wondering if someone has Photoshop and knows how to use it, if you could brighten the picture up a bit? I tried doing it with Microsoft Picture Manager but didn't have much luck.

Here it is:

I cant see anytihng more than the back legs, my brighten button is broke on the computer, but from what I can see it almost looks like a cat back leg.

That's what I thought too. But I THINK I see the snout of a coyote. It just needs to be a little brighter. The flash on the Tascos sucks, but otherwise I really like them for a cheap camera.

I brightened the best I could, I really see what looks like the long nose of a coyote. To me looks more like a yote than a bobcat.

Hopefully you get some daytime pictures of it.

If it is a coyote I think it's odd that it didn't hang out a little longer and eat a few apples.    :dunno:

The first time I posted my zoom I thought right away Deer.  Then I looked at it some more and figured it was flash reflecting off the branches.  My now deleted 2bit Walgreen Photo Wizard showed heavy spotting of multiple colors on the legs and a white belly and underside of the jaw.  The Walgreen Photo Wizard that came with my last batch of photos froze up my PC looking at this 3x so I 86'ed it  :bash: :bash: :bash:

What you see in the picture that sort of looks like antlers, is the reflection of the flash off grass/brush. You can see it in the picture I posted that was taken during the day.

I guess nobody answered this question yet. It looks like an eye, but of what, I don't know. If I had to guess I'd say elk.

Yeah I was pretty happy with the elk pictures. This is the first time I ever put a camera out for elk. I've got thousands of pictures of deer but never an elk until now. My plan is to put another camera further back up on the hill where I think a bull may be hanging out.
