Someone that archery hunts shot a cow a few years back with one.  My brotherinlaw shot a cougar tom with a gps collar and ear tag.

Yeap.  I Killed a bull (6x6) in '99 with my bow that had a yellow ear tag #181.  He had been tagged that year (spring) in Oak Creek and I killed him deep into Lewis County.

Last day archery spike in Oregon 1985.  Only one on an elk I've ever seen.  It was an orange canvas collar.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Thats some footwork.  It would be cool to know their travel history.

I have never shot one but have seen a few while hunting as a matter of fact spotted a cow with one this year and the only reason i saw her was because of the collar she had on otherwise she was very well hidden.

Shot a cow in the Cowemann unit a few years ago in modern rifle that had a collar on her. After contacting them they WDFW got it back. Also found part of the dart in her hindquarter when we cut her up.
