To my knowledge the WDFW dropped it due to low sales. The NWTF had a hard time advertising, and in general we did a poor job at that. Also the WDFW failed to advertise it as they told us (NWTF) they would. So best bet would be is to contact the WDFW to see if they are doing it at all.

So WDFW would rather receive 0.00$ ? That is  :(
I have purchased raffle tickets for several years.

The way raffles work is groups ask/petition WDFW to hold the raffle.  If know one does I am not sure what happens?  I will try and make a few calls and find out.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Talked to Dave Ware and the State has bagged the idea of a permit raffle.
However they are going to make some fall turkey changes "expanded opportunity".

I was talking to one of the DFW guys at the sportsmens show. He said they were talking about opening up turkey to rifle during deer season. I told him I sure hope that never happens!

Oh geez....just what we need.  That's what happened back in the 60's/70's.  Visualize this scene....it's deer season and it's just barely getting light out.  Said hunter sees these big black looking blobs in a tree 80 yards away in the field or across a canyon at 200 yards (you get my drift), and when it becomes legal shooting hours, he decides to harvest a turkey or target practice, whatever.  What's the point.  Is WDFW then going to cite the person for wastage....because that is what it 's going to be, as there will be nothing left but feathers of the bird. :bash:

Things got bad enough with "free taggers" a few years back road hunting and shooting into farmers fields in view of folks.  Can you just imagine if they don't have to get within shotgun range from the road?  That's what closed everything up many years ago in the NE.  You'll still see some historical remnant signs of closed property still around up there from those days.

Freaking morons!  Anything to get rid of the turkey resource.  :bdid:

Yeah that... :yeah:

I guess no more raffle..???  pathetic.  In my book it was done wrong anyways.  They didn't give it enough time until the drawing..to soon raised very little $$.  I also think there should be 10 winners not 2.  Better odds of winning and you would sell more tickets.  So what if you harvest 6 xtra or 30.  Point being..sweeten the pot sell more tickets.  GRRRR :bash:

From what I understand the WDFW is only allowed a limited number of permits for these special raffle drawings split between all species, and they felt that they could make more money shifting the single turkey raffle permit to a different species.

Exactly....you could have 50 winners, which might equate to 20 turkeys harvested plus or minus based on conditions and skill levels of the winners (it's still turkey hunting)....big deal.

[/quote]Exactly that. If they gave out more of one then it took from the pool for sheep, moose etc.All the converstions I've had with Mick Cope was they would not do a season during rifle With him being gone that could change. I hope not.@ Yelp, correct they would never give us the go ahead til January, which was. A huge bind. One you know at that time of year everything for NWTF was Banquet, banquet, banquet. And we arenot even allowed to sell them at a banquet. So it really stretched us so thin.Trying to promote everything. The idea came to mind just to drum up some enthusiasum for turkeys but when we hard a struggle on all parties it failed.
