Too soon for rockchucks?

I am heading over to Ellensburg for the next couple of days, and I am wondering if anyone knows if the rockchucks are up yet.  My father-in-law and I see them now and again, and I would love to take the .204 out for a walk to drill a couple.  I plan on doing some early turkey scouting up in Manastash this weekend - any thoughts on where I might see some chucks?

Down here in goldendale I have seen 2 out so far and one of them was today. As long as the weather stays decent you might get to crack a few!

If you only shoot this years young you will have shooting every year, BUT if you kill the bigger old ones the baby's will die in the ground and there won't be any to shoot in the future.  The young will be out in May.

I saw my first two Sunday, I have several private places I shoot chucks on that I will start now a shoot everyone I can. Due to the fact the farmers want them out of their orchards perminatly, you would be surprised at how difficult that can be. 6 years in one spot and I really put the heat on them and they are still in there. On my public land spots, I wait until I see that years young out before I start pulling the trigger on them.

i usually start nailing them in april. got really good in may! i used to work on a farm and my typical breaks would be sit on the tractor and pop chucks with my .223 and same thing after work in the evenings

Haven't seen my first ground squirrel yet.  Should be soon.   I am trying to eliminate them, so I will trim as many as I can.  As for the big groundhogs, its great advice to wait, if you want a continual supply.

All I see here is a foot of snow....
