Orderd my barrel
« on: March 20, 2012, 01:04:53 PM »
Been kicking around getting a new ar. So I decided to build one my first and it's gonna be a Gerndel 6.5  Just orderd the 18 inch 1-8 twist beaded barrel an upper from AA. Any tips or Ideas are always welcome. I want this little tack driver for deer & predators.
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.

Unless they told you they had it on hand, get ready for a year and a half wait. My brother and I got drug along for 18 months along with two other friends when we ordered ours. AA is not delivering even close to the time frame they originally gave is, which was three months. We all dropped our orders and purchased else where.

Black Hole does a good barrel, especially in 6x45.

I don't have a date yet just a comfirmation on the order.

A friend of mine that I work with is in the "being drug along" stage right now with AA.  I think he is going to order a barrel from Black Hole so he can build his now.

He blames me, as my wife has one and that is why he got interested in that caliber.  I told him from the start to go with the Black Hole barrel, or just get a 25WSSM upper.

You will love your 6.5 Grendel.  My wife sure loves hers.   Neither coyotes nor antelope are not so fond of it however.

I am looking at building either a 6PPC (I believe the parent cartridge of the Grendel), or a 6 DTI, (6.8 SPC necked down) for my next project.
Work to live, don't live to work.

You can educate away ignorance, sober up drunkenness, but you can't fix stupid.
