Mounts after house fire
« on: April 12, 2012, 09:32:02 PM »
A friend had his house catch fire today, first thing I tought of was his cougar mount. House is probably totaled but the cat came through with just smoke damage but got hot enough to melt a smoke detector lower on the wall. It is mounted laying on a log. Looks like the hyde may have shrunk back a little around the mouth but looks good considering. Anybody have any advice on saving this mount and a blacktail mount he has. That cat is awesome, a big cat, I hope it can be salvaged.

my house caught fire in 2004, be careful with the mounts, they sprayed water in the house, alot of moisture in the air. Then they put in radiant heaters I had five of the mounts crack because they were hydrated and then dried to quickly.

There is some stuff on the market that will get the smoke smell out I thin I still have a gallon of it.

Like Michelle said post some pics of it.
