1,366 pictures n 9 days!!
« on: April 30, 2012, 05:49:43 PM »
 :chuckle:
Just brought my first trail cam set home and man did I make a rookie mistake. On a mid 60's sunny no wind day I thought I had the perfect setup.  Today, with heavy winds, after nine days on a trail I saw some nice bucks on last summer, fall and winter I went to pick it up and was excited when I saw 1,366 pictures taken.  Then I noticed a small branch waving back and forth infront of the cam  :'(  I keep telling myself I'm not the first to do this and I won't be the last but mans that's funny  :chuckle:  :bash: :yike: :bdid: :yeah:

I had the same feeling last year when checkin cams in August. Walked up to a cam saying 1300 pics and was thinkin damn must of been a bush or branch setting of the motion detector, but I was wrong had a herd of elk bed down 2 nights in a row right in front of the camera. !300 pics of cows and calfs just lyin around.

That's cool, wish mine was like that.  Just a branch that blew in and out...live and learn

I did that one year in Kansas.  I'd seen 2 different 200"+ bucks from one stand and wanted to get some pictures of them.  I put the camera up with a scent wick.  A tuft of grass blew back and forth in front of the camera getting about 300 pictures.  I was sure excited when I saw the number of pictures, but it was a big let down to not have one picture of a monster buck.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

That sucks.  But I've definitely done it a few times myself.

Once with a branch.. once with some grass.. once it was pointed south and the sun/heat during the day was setting it off I think.. It's all a learning experience.

Hope it was close to home!  I was driving about 300 miles to check mine only to find 1500 beautiful pictures of a branch.  :chuckle:

Good Luck!
