second deer central okanogan question
« on: June 09, 2012, 03:18:17 PM »
Got pulled for second deer in central okanogan.  Its an any weapon tag from sep.8-oct.9.  My primary tag is archery.  I can only make one weekend trip to the area.  My question is can i carry a rifle and bow in the field and use my bow if i happen across a legal buck in range or shoot my doe with a rifle if she's out at 200yds?

Might be wise to call a regional office on that one. For others benefit, if you call, please post the answer here.

You have an archery tag, so you can only hunt with your bow, for both tags.

Here is what it says on page 27:

Quote
The second tag must be the same weapon choice as your first tag. You may hunt only with the hunting method in compliance with your tag.

No sense calling WDFW. You HAVE to use the weapon you've chose. Unless you have a multi,   archery it is.

Even though it's an "any" weapon tag?  Learn something new everyday

It's not an any weapon tag. It says "any tag" in the "tag required to apply" column, but that doesn't mean your 2nd tag allows you to use any weapon. Your 2nd tag has to be the same as your first tag. I've never had a 2nd deer tag, but I'm guessing "archery" will be printed on the tag, just like it is on your regular tag.

I hunted it last year.   I was archery.   Mostly private land.  Dad had the muti tag when he got it.   What do you think he used?

The tag is required to be only hunted on private land.  No public land hunting with this tag, but I assume you knew that.

I don't think that's correct but i may be wrong.  regardless, i should have private land lined up by then so it won't be an issue

He's right. Have you read the description for Deer Area 2014?
