Title: Help Yote Hunting!
Post by: Varmint_hunter on June 24, 2012, 10:31:33 AM
I need help! I was looking to do some Yote hunting around my area in SW Washington. I've grown up here my whole life but I've never hunted here before, only in eastern WA/OR in them rolling hills! But i don't know what to do in all of this thick brush! I usually just sit at the high point of a field and call them in, but their are no fields, just really thick trees. I guess what I'm asking is what works best for you guys when hunting in such thick woods!?

Look for older growth with open understory near heavier heavier cover and set up in the more open area and call them out of the heavy stuff, setting up across small ravines so you can see the coyotes on the hill side.  Also gravel bars or open areas that spring floods keep open along small creeks can be good.  Having an e-caller with a remote or delay is a real plus as you can set the caller away from you and watch a larger area around the caller .
