Title: new Rainshadow rod
Post by: 87Ford on July 09, 2012, 12:22:33 PM
I'm having Greg at Greg's custom Rods wrap up a Rainshadow XST1142F for me in the spin variety.  It's a 9'6" 4-10 mod fast action.  Gonna use it for side driftin' and a little float fishin' too.  My first Rainshadow...looking forward to it.  Should have it in a week.

He built a pair of trout rods for me about 15 years ago and they turned out really nice.  Built them on glass fly blanks.  Thought about taking the rod building class he offers, but just don't see myself building too many rods, so decided to have the master himself put this Rainshadow together..

What is it costing you? I might be needing a couple new sidedrifters pretty soon.

I have a couple of rainshadow rods and they are great! Their steelhead rods are top notch! You better put up some pictures when you get it so we all have something to  over!

I'm gonna put a Shimano Stradic CI4 on it, so I asked him to put some matching maroon trim on the hook keeper and a little more just above that.  Should look nice..I'll post a couple pics when it's finished.

Which model are you going with? The 2500 or 3000?

I have the 2500 and I'm gonna try some 10 lb Sufix Performance Braid with floats this summer and probably switch to mono this winter for side driftin'..
