Title: WENAHA EAST ANY BULL ELK TAG MODERN
Post by: WALLEYERICK on August 14, 2008, 07:25:30 AM: HAVE THE TAG, NEVER BEEN IN THE UNIT. ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS?
WHERE DO I START SCOUTING?

I've never been in that area, but I've looked across at the area of Moore Flats and Smooth Ridge from the Three Forks trailhead above Troy, OR. That was where I was going to start after checking it out on Google Earth. There are a couple ponds on the flat that I had planned on getting to; one of them is basically right on the state line. I thought such an inviting ridge would have other hunters, for sure, but it's a long way from the road, so it's hard to tell until you get out there. Good luck with that hunt!

Post by: Opportunist on August 14, 2008, 04:25:27 PM: Moore flat and camp on the Oregon side of the line. Then hunt up in the morning and downhill back to camp in the evening. That's my plan when I draw.
