Title: Local paper writes about our wdfw
Post by: smartazz171 on July 19, 2012, 03:52:58 PM
The spokesman review (Spokane) had an article about how we (wdfw) have to have 15 breeding pairs before they will be delisted as endangered. But it also has To have a split eastern and western( I'm assuming the Roosevelt elk areas). Right now most pairs are in north and eastern washington and major cost won't be taken to trap and transplant wolves into western Washington even if overpopulation occurs in eastern. In other words, we could have 20 breeding pairs in only eastern Washington, this would not meet requirements to de-list/ control the population. So elk in our state are going to get hit harder and harder in the NE corner, the blues, and the cascade spine until its convenient for wdfw. It's amazing they don't look at Idaho and there elk populations changes since wolves were forced into their lands.  Now we are waiting for our "huge" elk populations to dwindle for all us hunters who pay for their idiocy.

The article was continued onto the obituary page. How appropriate! Elk should have been listed with the rest of those people.

Their seems to be plenty of room in Wash st for failed federal policies regarding wolves. It will not work here.

According to the wolf plan it is 15 breeding pairs dispersed through 4 or 5 areas statewide or 18 breeding pairs anywhere in the state. The writer should have done better in his research. Or if his research was good he should have written a more complete article.

Live trap them and cougars for release in I-5 corridor parks.  Let the bleeding hearts enjoy them too!

They look just like coyotes, right?  What so many don't remember is that grey wolves are not timber wolves.. "They" are not re-introducing wolves as our native wolves do not exist anymore.. Grey wolves are larger, more aggressive, and will certainly wreak havoc on our elk and deer populations.  I witnessed this first hand when I went back to where I grew up in MT last year.. What I saw was piles of wolf crap on every high ridge pack trail and each pile was packed with mule deer hair.  How many mule deer did I see?  Very, very few.  As I said, they look just like coyotes, right?  mtmnan, I'm on your wavelength friend.  RJ

Aren't the wolves in the NE corner repopulating from expanding populations to the North and the East?  The NE wolves are isolated from the ID and MT reintroductions, right?
