Just got home. I can't get to these crabs tonight. What's the best way to keep them alive until lunch tomorrow?
-
FYI, I have them in a bucket half full with new ocean water I scooped up right before we left the dock and the bucket is in the tub right now
-
Im guessing they live just like you've got them.
-
Clean em and put them on ice. They will drown and spoil in the buvkey.
-
DUMP THE WATER, THEY WILL BE DEAD IN THE MORNING!
Seriously, they will suffocate due to lack of oxygen. They can breathe in the air if kept cool but will run out of oxygen in the water. Just take out of your bucket and put them in a cooler. An inch of water is fine as it will help keep their gills moist.
-
In your cooler, you can toss in a tray or two of ice cubes as well.
-
I bought a cheapo aquarium aerator for like 12 bucks. I plug it in and drop it in the bucket when I get home. Got a battery operated one that keeps my squid alive til I'm done fishing for em.

That would work as well.

Honestly it will only take a few minutes to boil some water I would just get them cooked, and not have to worry about them in the morning.
-
Doing that now

I know you dont need the info right now but a FYI.
Put live crab n a cooler withot water, soak a towel and put over the crab, put some ice on top to the keep them cool.
I've kept crab alive overnight ans half the next day this way.
