I am considering getting a new stabilizer for my bow, and I need a little guidance here. I currently have a 4 inch Limbsaver that probably helps a little with noise, but is pretty useless as far as helping my stability is concerned. So, I am looking to replace it with something more effective, particularly at stabilization. I would like something that helps keep the weight of the bow forward when I am aiming, as overcompensating by pushing the bow down seems to be my biggest issue. I am open to sizes ranging from 6 to 12 inches, and as I mentioned above, my primary concern is stability over noise. I hunt in more open areas rather than areas of dense underbrush, so length is less of a concern for me. This stabilizer will be going on a PSE Baby G.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Chris

Hey Loki,
Well what I can tell you was that I was never big on stabilizers. I thought they would just be extra weight I did not need. I am a pretty decent shot, but I was at the range and a guy was shooting with a stabilizer that looked funny so I started asking questions about it. Anyways, long story short I went with a 12 in Octane stab and it slowed my pin movement while aiming down considerably. So from someone who use to be askeptic,(or slow learner), I think you need one that gets that weight out about 12 in or so.
Just my 2 cents

Try looking into a fuse carbon blade you can add or subtract weights to find what feels good to you.

Get a 10-12" stabilizer, that should fit what you are wanting.
Will it help a little and be useful? Sure, but it won't fix a noisy bow. It will help you feel more stable in most cases. The only time I don't like a longer stabilizer is when there is a bunch of wind. Just more drag and it makes the bow move more.

I may take off my stabilizer now with the Tight Spot quiver putting more weight forward. It's just about perfectly balanced with an arrow knocked.

I shoot a smooth stability stabilizer in 12" on my hunting bow. It helps a ton! I couldn't imagine shooting without a stabilizer that dosent stabilize.

I would reccomend 10-12 inches and adjustable weight's. Start with 2-3 ounces weight and shoot. Try more weight or less until you like the results. I use a 12 inch doinker dish with 8 oz weight at the end. Total weight is 14.5 oz I think. Maybe more. Doinleds are very good at vibe reduction also. But there are other goodonss also. Archerytalk has classifieds where you can find a deal on a used one.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. I like the idea of finding a used one - there seem to be a bunch out there, and if I am patient (the hard part!) then I imagine I will find something I like and can afford. Thanks so much once again.

I have an octane 7 inch right now. And I added a few 1oz b-stinger weights to the end. But plan on buying a 12" b-stinger 8oz.

Get on Achery Talk in their adds you will find quite a few there.

Thanks Bull, but I'm on the complete opposite side of the state! I appreciate the offer, though.

I have two different ones that i use. I also would go with a fuse. I love it

I use to use a 6" limbsaver stabilizer but then changed to a 12" B stinger with 8oz weight and it helped with the balance pin movement. I will be switching up to a 12" bowhunter frestye carbon blade. the carbon blade shaft is flat so it cuts down on wind drag if the wind is blowing.Either one can be found on Archery talk for a descent price.
