Howdy,
Just wanted to give the report on how me and my friend did at Crawfish. He has built a cabin in the Aeneas Valley so we go up there to hunt and fish and I must say.... that area of the state is super beautiful. No traffic too!!!!
We got up to Crawfish and tried to fish it from the bank.... no love. Too many weeds this time of year to plunk powerbait from shore. Some of the locals said that earlier in the year one can do well with orange powerbait from the boat launch but too weedy now. So....back down the mountain to grab the canoe. That was the ticket! We got out there and started throwing a number 3 Blue Fox spinner in yellow/orange/green color and WHAMO. Then cast back out. WHAMO #2. Then cast again and guess what? Yes, WHAMO #3. It was awesome. :)
Both days were great...so pretty up there. We saw TONS of rabbits in the evening both days. What is with that? Anyone know? They aren't around like that in grouse season else they would have been dinner. We were thinking they were mating...? :dunno: Do they get out on the road like that so they can hook up??? :chuckle:
Good luck to everyone if you head up there. Met people at the lake from the 206 and also from the Peninsula...everyone did well. No crawdads in there though I think.
