Title: Badlands Monster Fanny
Post by: Hunt4ever on July 27, 2012, 08:50:30 AM: I just got rid of my Badlands 2200 and got the Monster fanny (needed more of a light day pack)... So far i love everything about it but i was wondering if you guys have one or have any reviews for me...

I have one of those quick clip grizzly holseters that i clip in between the side pocket and the hip strap... then tighten the belt and its good to go... i cant get to it very fast but its there i guess...

Sometimes it pays to be creative, lol

I mounted an old plastic (to save weight) canteen to he left side, and a rifle butt holder on the right side belt , with a Velcro tie up on the right chest strap to hold the rifle barrel when in the stow postion.

Post by: WonkyWapiti on August 02, 2012, 09:11:13 PM: I got one for Christmas and I took it out yesterday bear hunting. I really like it and think I'll switch to this instead of my Superday for bowhunting. I really like not having the pack on my back to help stay cool and not sweat like crazy.

FWIW, here's my solution, since I never go out hiking, scouting or hunting without a firearm. I have the Monster, and a good thigh holster is, to me, a pretty perfect solution.

Here is the holster with a full frame H&K USP .40.

The holster has excellent weapon retention in case you trip, fall, get caught on brush, etc., no worries about the firearm falling out accidentally. I have a 34 inch waist and the pack is comfortable for me but it is cinched all the way down, so I'm trying to get fatter.

I'll also add, the key to this holster (and 90% of the other holsters out there) is a good, quality gun belt. A heavy leather belt won't cut it. Go to a gun store and spend the money, you'll be glad you did!

While hunting I prefer to wear opp hand, just this months preference, and that can change any moment. Modifying my packs is an ongoing pass time for me.
I am currently modifying my new Eberlestock X2, to carry all the crap I should not be carrying, lol
