I just bought one and was wondering how many of you hate/like THIS gun and caliber ONLY. Thanks guys and gals. Oh, I put a 3x9x40 VX1 Leupold on 'er.
-
Both are just fine

I have the tikka t3 in 300wsm lite. I like the caliber but in the lite it has pretty substantial recoil. I reloaded light loads with 150 gr bullets and they just dont shoot well past 100 yards. I think with the twist rate it has its better suited to 168 gr and up bullets. I have a new custom 7 rem mag so I just dont need to load it heavy. I would buy another tikka again but just in a lighter cal. For a light weight packing rifle with great power its a great combo though.

Love the 300WSM. I can pick just about any of the popular calibers out of the safe and 90% of the time I take that one.
I'm just the opposite on the kick. In a fairly light x-bolt, I have very little kick with the 300WSM.
I shot yours last year and kinda liked it. Thanks Jeff for making me spend money............. :chuckle: :chuckle: Are you coming over for bear ? Oh, mine weighs 7.1 lbs with the scope w/no sling. Really light, 3.5 lb trigger, nice smooth bolt.

Love the .300WSM :hunt2: :puke: Tikka.

The caliber is an awesome one.. if you want some load data let me know.. I load for my brother and nephew, and they both shoot very very well.

Send me the recipe John. It might be awhile before I reload, but all info is appreciated. Thanks.
Also, I'm picking up my Savage Model 16 6.5 Creedmoor tomorrow.
Any comments Biggerhammer........... :chuckle: :dunno:

Whats wrong with Tikka?
Guessing something to do with modifying it?

Absolutely nothing if you are a working stiff that wants a great shooting rifle right out of the box.....

Me thinks I'm gonna like it.......

I'm going to be over, but probably later in the season. I have an any bull tag in the Observatory that I want to get filled. I have the Multi season deer, so will be over for deer and bear later on. If you want to pick me one out I would appreciate it. That big on from last year would do just fine if the cub is gone.
Brother in laws dad who owned the cabin passed away about a month ago, so still waiting to see what happens with the property over there. I'm guessing the brothers are all going to keep the place. I'll let you know when I'm heading over again.
You hunting muzzy again this year?
I actually have a multi season deer tag too, again. Sorry to hear about brother inlaws dad. You looking for a deer llike this one ? It's been hanging around for a couple months now. Just bought feed for it... :chuckle: :chuckle: He's about 1-2 inches outside his ears.

That would do. Not quite as big as the one I saw last weekend. Monster 3x4 that I wouldn't mind sticking and arrow in. I'll let you know when I can get over there. I'm hoping for Muzzy and stay through modern if I can fill the elk tag.
Ok. I applied for 4 disabled elk tags and 4 disabled deer tags. Hopefully I'll get drawn for an elk tag.
Here's a couple more of 2 more deer hanging around with the other one.

not a real big fan of the wsm, but I love my Tikka. Great gun, lite and built well and shoot great.
-
I watched the .300 wsm in action last year with 180 accubonds three shots on deer , elk and sheep all one shot drops . I wouldn't sell a 300 wm to buy a wsm but if buying new i'd pick up the wsm . I owm a t3 in 300wsm and really like shooting it . the recoil is very managible and for a pack gun it works well . plastic clip and sloppy bolt kinda bug me , but that being said its a shooter , and the trigger isnt too bad . If you can spring for a lil more i'd go with the sako .

Love the Tikka.

I've got a 300 mag T/C Encore Stainless/Composite. I wanted something different and I think I found it.
-
I have the same gun , i absolutely love mine. I put a limbsaver recoil pad on and it cut the recoil down substantially.
-
I have the Tikka T3 lite 300 WM. Not sure what the difference is between that and the WSM is. Maybe someone could enlighten me. :dunno:

Shorter action in the 300 wsm, except in the Tikka.
Short fat cartridge, uses less powder to equal 300 WM velocities. Less recoil in every gun I have shot.

My experience with Tikka T3s is that they are very accurate and easy to carry. Factory scope rings suck and suggest Talley LW or DNZ as replacements. The only thing that bugs me, and it really bugs me, is that there is only 1 action length for the Tikka. Buying a short action cartridge doesn't matter because its not a short action. And, depending on how the rifle is throated, the magazine could be too short for the 300 Win Mag. The 300 Winny has a longer case than other standard magnums but still abides by 30-06 OAL. It really needs a longer box to really shine.
I can go either way on the WSMs. I think the 270 and 300 are here to stay as main-stay cartridges. I've had issues reloading for WSMs due to dies being a bit too long and not allowing proper resizing of the shoulder and crappy feeding. Die companies will fix the dies if this is the case though.

Won't small case dies fix the problem ?
