I stumbled down into this unit from Tripod Flats about 4 years ago and heard some Bulls down there. So I started putting in for the any bull tag and this year I drew the tag. I do not know the area very well so i am looking for a starting point. I am going into the unit this weekend to scout but would like some reliable tips from those of you who have hunted the area or killed Elk in the area. I have a quad to get into some of the areas but I am not afraid to hoof it in either. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Forgot to mention....I drew for Muzzleloader hunt from 1-10 October.

Congrats on a great tag draw.
In the Muzzle section, and the Elk Hunting section, upper right corner is the search box. Type in Little Naches. Even searching in the Archery section could produce some info for you too.
You will find quite a bit of info in past threads, probably more than you will get in response here. :)

Thanks for the tip! I should be a great year! I was drawn for the mutiple season deer tag, a second deer tag, the any bull tag and a cow tag for Manashtash. I also got drawn for a general Elk tag for Wyoming!

I'm pretty sure Tripod Flat is in Manastash Unit, not Little Naches. If you drew 346 (Little Naches), you can't hunt east of Manastash Ridge, as its a different unit.

Yes Tripod is in the Manashtash unit. I have a cow tag for that unit that start on 6 Oct. The bull tag is for unit 346.

You lucky dog! I wondered who drew MY tag! :chuckle:

Need any help with that WY tag?
I think I been there chasing elk a time or twenty over the years. :chuckle:

With that bull tag, you better not even be thinking of using that cow tag.

You should find the thread that has a guy on here willing to help you get an elk for free, and 346 is the unit he was talking about. Great tag, find a deep dark canyon and listn for a while then cow call....be ready!!

get high where you can hear well and listen a couple of hours before day light . i'm sure you could find a good bull between quartz and bald oct 1 . i'd be in there the weekend before locating . good luck .

Don't overlook Milk Creek Basin. Lots of elk in there with the bottom road closed.
