Besides for the skeeters and flies, what other "things" are out there in S.W. Washington that may be going to bite or suck blood out of me in the early archery season? I hate ticks and chiggers.

Have never gotten a "chigger" here in Washington. Had plenty in the "South". There are ticks, but I've never had a problem with them during elk season. Of course I usually hunt above 5000 feet so there might not be as many of them :dunno:. Plenty of mosquitoes where I hunt though.

Exwives, might be a few around that area and they bite and suck the life out of you....worse insect i have ever known, the only cure/repellant i have known is pay your child support on time and hope some other poor sap collects them up and marries them....and celebrate the day that you can remove them from draining you when the support payments stop.

Hornets and yellowjackets bother me more than anything else in the early season, followed closely by mosquitoes. I've never worried much about anything else. I did however find a tick in one of the worst places imaginable 2 years ago. I'm much more careful about dropping trow for natures call now, especially in tall grass.

BEE'S /yellowjackets and hornets can get real bad when you are cleaning your animal
carniverous and mean!!!!!!!!

Black flies
Bot flies
Deer flies
Wasps
Ants (watch where you sit)
Spiders
Snakes (especially along the Klickitat)
and that nasty lap dog in the farmers yard as you get permission

No chiggers (thank you GOD). We do however have deer flies, horse flies, ticks, spiders an occasional scorpion, maybe a centipede if your unlucky, rattlers east of the line w/the scorpions. Fleas will be about till first frost. There really is'nt much in the way of annoying insects here except we do have an abundance of skeeters and thats enough for most till first frost. The skeeters will keep me out of the high country till end of august if i want to be anywhere near lakes or ponds. The biggee here is the yellow jackets, theyll be around till late oct. They get real pissy at 90 degrees or hotter.
