We got this recipe from a native friend of my folks who was a Cree, from Ontario.
Cook and bone 1-2 pounds salmon meat, mix in one large bowl with two eggs, 1 1/2 cups bisquick, one cup crushed saltines or bread crumbs, one tblspn garlic salt, 1/2 dozen minced chives.
Make in to burger sized patties, cook in butter.
Serve with tarter, or any favorite dressing.

How about some Creek Indian Cornbread to go with them Patties?
Ingredients
2 cups water ground cornmeal
1 can whole stewed tomatoes
1 chopped onion
Salt and Pepper to taste
pot of hot oil (preferably after frying fish)
Directions
In a large bowl add cornmeal, salt and pepper. Dump in the juice from the canned tomatoes, and squish the tomatoes through your fingers into the bowl. Add chopped onions. Mix all together. Drop by the teaspoon full into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.

They both sound delicious, but I laughed thinking about a Cree woman knocking on her neighbor's teepee door asking to borrow some Bisquick and saltines. :chuckle:
