Title: Triangle flashers / line twist?
Post by: Knotabite on August 21, 2012, 07:07:02 AM
I was wondering how in the world do you keep your line from twisting when using those triangle flashers? I hook onto the downrigger back 16 to 18 feet then back to a cut plug herring and all i get is line twist clear up to the clip on the rigger. I might add i have a 6 bead chain swivel and weed gaurd out front of the flasher?  Any help or ideas would be great!! Thanks..

try using a ball barring swivel, not my type of fishing but those have helped us when we were having the same type of problem. not sure on the brand or name of them

Both - ball bearing swivel and bead chain prior and after the flasher..

I have had luck with a bead chain halfway through my leader, and a little reel oil on the flasher swivels.  The vision bead chains seem to work well.

As you say, you need a bead chain and weed guard.  Also, a bead chain between your flasher and herring is very helpful.

and a little reel oil on the flasher swivels.

I use some scent oil on the swivels.  :twocents:

I use a rudder with a swivel just ahead of the flasher.

Bead chain is the way to go. That is what we have had the best luck with.
