I want to say it was in the classifieds but I can't find it. I was looking for a picture of the mount that at one point was for sale. On the pedestal there was a cutout of the state of ID, with aspen or birch bark used as the background.
I'm building a saddle rack to hold my grandfather's saddle, and would like to do something like this, but with the state of Oregon.
Any ideas where I might get a stencil for this as well? Thanks!

Im sure you could find a picture of oregon on the internet, print it out , cut out the state and use that as a stencil??

Ya, that'd be the easy way... I thought about that right after I hit enter. :o Still would like to see the picture. I think I've got a line on some 1x6 old barnwood.
Something kinda like this http://www.plesums.com/wood/other/saddle.html, (http://www.plesums.com/wood/other/saddle.html,) but I'm not sure I'm sold on the design yet. I thought about going with the log furniture style, but I like the bark in the state cutout, and that wouldn't match the wood used in the rack. Would seem a little off.

MDGrand was the one selling and had the picture, might PM him.

Will do. Thanks.
Sorry for the delay KopperBuck.. Call Albrecht Taxidermy. He outsources his cabinet making to a local guy. He can probably give you the contact information you need to find out how it was done.
I added the White Aspen bark myself. I found a place on the Internet that sells sheets for about 20-30 bucks.
