Wow.
A friend of mine offered to build a presentation box for me. He asked me to select a handgun, and he would build a box for it that held not only the gun, but a set of cartridges and all the cleaning supplies needed to maintain it.
I had seen his work before and it took me all of about 10 seconds to take him up on the offer!
I made things challenging for him and selected my scoped Ruger Redhawk 44 RM. Here are the results.
I am amazed at the work he did. It is stunning.
Before anyone asks, he only does this for friends and refuses to take money for his work. I am honored that he did this for me! Thanks Bill!

Outstanding! Serious attention to detail and quite a few hours involved.
-
I am a good friend of his also. I think he lost my # :chuckle:
-
Now that look's sharp!!! I think he needs to start a business and become a sponsor on here

Lets see if I can get this right....
The top and bottom is Dark English Walnut.
The sides are walnut
The dust gaurd (rim around the edge on the inside) is cherry
The little lid inside is walnut, with a maple edging, and an ebony handle.
He is a real artist. I believe he put in over 100 hours into this project.
I forgot the makers mark!

Unbelievable.....wow.....

I believe he put in over 100 hours into this project.
Woah, I was gonna try to make an el cheapo box in 10 min and stain it. This just makes me feel like a lazy effer. What a great job, how can I become friends with your friend? :chuckle:

I have such little talent that people cannot even read my name when I write it down. Tackling a project like this one would have put me in a coma.
When I try to build stuff with wood, it is always ugly, but solid and tough. Basically it could survive a hurricane but looks like it already went through one.

I don't think I could even manage to post a picture of something that nice, let alone build it! Your friend has a gift, and my hats off to him for embracing it and sharing it with those he cares about.
That right there is something that gets passed down to kids and grand kids with a story about the person who created it!
-
you know it! I don't have kids, but it will go to someone eventually.
Bucksnort, if you happen to see this thread, this is the handgun I bought from you a few years ago!
-
Rob.......Did we lose the pics for this thread somehow? Would you mind reposting a couple? All I see is red X's. Or if anyone knows what could be wrong on my end let me know.
-
Very odd...
sure.
