I'm a bowhunter so I don't know a whole lot about this stuff but I do you shouldn't have to work the bolt that hard.

I shot them today...boresighted and got zero'd with core-loks, then shot the superformance ammo. I purchased the 139 graim GMX's and they shoot good. B.S. on the no increase in felt recoil. This thing kicks like a friggin mule. I think the weight of the rifle isn't helping the recoil. Its a nice liggtweight rifle. I am surprised by the recoil for sure. Man I sound like a Sissy again.

Accuracy is really something that can't be pinned on a specific load: every gun is different, so you need to find out what each individual gun likes. I've had several rifles that shot Light Magnum ammunition very well, and a few that didn't. I neither praise nor fault ammunition as being inherently "accurate" or "inaccurate".
Recoil: it's been my experience that these loads do in fact recoil a bit more, as physics would suggest.

Anyone have any experience with the Hornady Superformance ammo? Just ordered a box to try out in the. 280 Rem barrel on my Encore.
I've used them in my 6.5 x55. They shoot well, but so did the basic 140 grain SP's that Hornady made prior to the SST in that caliber. The only thing I'm not sure about is the tend to explode and fragment in the deer. They'll put the deer down, no problems with that... It's just that I'm not a big fan of ruining a whole bunch of meat, or picking through it looking for pieces of the bullet. I'm still going to use them, but I was happier with the older SP's (they stopped making them in my caliber). If I had the choice (with hornady factory ammo) I would give back the FPS for a bullet that mushroomed well and held together after impact.

I've got a 300 Mag Barrel for my Encore Josh. And yes, it's a mans gun and does kick like 2 mules....ouch !! Ya outta get one to feel the pain..... :chuckle

Nice. I've been thinking about a brake myself. Our 300 mags hurt. How much was your brake and who did it, Bellem ?

If I remember correctly the brake was $80.00 then install it... I think I paid 160 or 180 all up.

SST = Balisttic Tip = Blows big holes, bullets come apart
GMX = Solid Bullets = complete pass throughs, bullets don't expand very much, need high velocities to mushroom, wont come apart
Interbond = Bonded Bullet = not as much damage as SST's, bigger wound channel than GMX's, mushrooms at lower velocities and stays together.

More kick than a standard round but still very tolerable with a recoil pad.
