Just picking it up a few weeks ago and only having one pot that I take out on my inflatable raft, we have counted 52 going into the last weekend of the season. Up until now, I haven't had weighted doors on my pots. Hoping to really rake them in this last weekend with my modified pot.

On dungies alone I think a bit over a hundred. Taking a buddy from work out for one more trip on Saturday to finish up the turkey legs that I have on hand. Kind of need the freezer space now.
-
We did up 128 dungies in 4 days up in the san juans at the end of july. My only crabbing trip of the year. 25 of us camping for a week. We can really burn through a cooler of crab.
-
lucky I didn't get any, heard they are a pain of to get rid of once you get them, and shaving doesn't work :chuckle:
-
dang! I thought we did pretty good at around 50 :dunno: .. maybe that is good for the south sound ??? :dunno:

Iceman - Sorry, Maybe I phrased that wrong. I think 50 is great! I was meaning that I was shocked by MY performance at 50 when others are catching 100+ !! And I have a boat and 4 pots so for double J to get 50 with his set up - he kicked my butt! :)

We went out this weekend with some friends ...They are the only ones who had a crab license and I was glad I did not waste more money buying them .. We caught enough to cook on the boat and have a good time ... but for $400 in fuel , couple hundred in food and $ 300 in some new life jackets I think I will pass next time :dunno: :yike: it was fun but alot of money just for two days on a boat and I could not even catch a damn fish ....Legally :dunno: :o >:(

I'm out every day from Thur-Monday though. 52 crabs over about 20 daily pulls total so just over 2 crabs per pot average. Persistence got me my 52 crabs. we've have had a pots of 10, 7, 7, and 6. Outside of that, it's 1-2 crabs at a time and about 6 pulls with nothing in the pot at all. This coming weekend will be the first with my weighted doors so I'm hoping to make a final few big number pulls to close the season

It is all good, I did not consider your post a negative one at all.
Good job doubleJ, persistence pays!

My wife calls it an addiction. I do have an addictive personality and combined with adult ADHD, it makes for some fun times. I find projects and lock on and go balls-to-the-wall with it for awhile and then I find something else to do it with, almost completely neglecting the previous addiction. I have done it with roses, lilies, tomatoes, my truck, computer building, baking bread, and now crabbing. I don't completely drop the activity as I still do each of those to some extent and fully expect to crab next year. She just gets tired of it because I go all out and spend all this time and money on my new "Hobby" and then drop it after a few months.

We caught about 70 between our group. Focused more on the sockeye fishing this year.

Got down to the boat and looked at the scorecard last night - after a slow start, we did pretty well overall for the few times we went out.
97 Crab into my boat, 1 into a white North River. 100% dungies. No monsters, but nice average size. Biggest was pushing 8". Limits were usually the rule, and the only reason we didn't get more is I couldn't make it out enough or when I did, there weren't enough crab cards on board to keep all the crab we could have.
I learned that if you have an old school flasher on your old school boat, when it's flashing "70" you better make sure you're not in 170 feet instead. Especially if you only have 100 foot lines on the pots. I also learned that you feel a lot worse about it the second time you do it in a week than the first - especially when you're BS'ing on the water with that white North River...

Even your dog has crabs!
Yep.....North River owners will send you astray every time. However, not as bad as guys that buy older bigger boats. They usually drink more booze and fraternize with loose women that make promises that are never kept.

Speaking of, how many people do you think register their dogs and buy them licenses? This is Washington, there has to be a few.

Did 28 last weekend with four cards in the boat not the best I have done over the years but made a couple kids very happy to go for a boat ride and see some cool stuff
-
I have no way of counting mine I don't record them
-
Taking kids out crabbing is the best!
Well, unless you have a beer & bait bi*ch on board. No kids allowed then. And as far as unkept promises, H20 - you ought to know a beer & bait bi*ch can't make those kind of promises! Skipper gets paid (in gps co-ordinates) first...
I'd go for signing up my dog for crab! But I'm pretty sure if my dog had a crab card he wouldn't turn it in, costing me $10 the next year... he's lazy. Didn't help clean any of those crab, either.
-
Hear yah on the dog. Looks like he does an ok job as crab gaurd. Understood on the other stuff!
-
I think he thought he was herding them more than guarding them. Driving 'em from the cooler to the cleaning table...
