440-Inch Bull Taken with Governor's Tag in Arizona - 12
by Alex Robinson
Check out this monster elk photo posted on the Boone & Crockett Club's Trophy Watch website. The bull was reportedly taken by Corey Knowlton with the Arizona Governor's tag. Each year the state auctions off a tag that allows a hunter to hunt the prime units in the state.
The bull's green gross score is a whopping 440 inches. The world record typical elk was taken in Arizona in 1968 and stands at 442 5/8 inches (net score).
Knowlton took the 7X8 bull on a rifle hunt in northern Arizona. He was guided by Starr Guide Service and Mossback Arizona.
If this bull is scored typical, and depending on deductions, it has the potential to make the top 10 in the B&C record books.

I saw that earlier... what a pig!

The bull was taken in Unit 10. I will be there soon to take a few photos. I hope to post up some good ones :IBCOOL:

They must not have wolves there. That thing would be to slow with that rack.

I believe NM and AZ are subject to the Mexican Grey Wolf reintroduction conspiracy. The game pamphlet laments lots of SS&S'ing going on that is 'threatening successful reintroduction.' Pity.

So they're having issues with re-intro??? That must suck?

That is a monster bull. From what I have heard he killed that bull with less than a week left of his season. Corey bought last years (2011) governors tag and had from Sept. 1st 2011 to Sept, 1st 2012 to kill his bull. Could you imagine having a year long season to hunt for a big bull. Congrats to Corey for getting it done.

I think Washington guys should be smart and do the same. The corrupt politics, slide of hand, pay-offs and lies by WDFW and wolf groups should be reason enough. There will be a season, after the big game animals are decimated if the WDFW can get over all the lawsuits by Conservation NW, PETA, Humane Society, etc. My guess is these groups will eventually deplete WDFW fund allocations and some jack wagon will make sure DNR and WDFW are under one branch ran by tree huggers. Look at what they are trying to do to stop the 4 wolves from being removed, due to being cattle killers.
