-
My day pack fully loaded is 6lbs.
-
Let's just say its a good thing I have a 1 ton truck!
-
Who cares as long as you have what ya need? I dont, 20lbs, 50lbs its all good. :chuckle: What your pack weighs hiking out is the important stuff!
-
Mine is heavier than I want it to be. THinking about dumping camera and extras to go along with. I ahve enough big buck pics, do I really need another?
-
My elk pack is always very heavy. The dang bags I have to keep the blow flies off suck! I am around 35lbs.

Starts to add up when you are packing it quite a ways :) When we do our rifle camp its not a concern, sometimes I feel like I need an extra truck he he.

You should try 1 liter of water and a water filter. I drink a lot of water but 3 liters puts me to shame. I hiked in the snow 5+ miles to 9500' on mt adams with a 2 day pack and didnt consume 3L of water.
I'll be about 40lbs for 4 days with the rifle included.
-
:yike: Holy crap. My pack is 60 lbs. (on the way in), and I way 140 :chuckle: And I am not kidding.
-
Did a 62 mile hike in the bob marshal and pack weighed 72#. My friend thought I was nuts but he sure liked my p nut mm's. :chuckle:
If I am hunting for a week though I keep my weight around 50# and that is a tent and spotting scope, and game bags.
-
i am at about 40lbs with 3l of water in my bladder and enough goods for a 7 day bivy hunt.
-
Usually hunt outta camp and my pack is around 40-50 depending on weather and deer or elk season.....

i rifle hunt so its not a bow but for 7 days in the backcountry I'm at 58lbs not including what I'm wearing.
how are you so light? we should compare gear lists...
-
between 15 and 25 pounds depending on the weather an weapon... then 13 ounces of food a day
-
also for those that are interested,geargrams.com is a prety good website

I'm almost double you in food.

:yike:
:yeah:
I'm almost 2.5 times that.
If you say 120 calories per ounce which is a little on the high side, you are only getting 1560 Calories/day. :yike:
I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs. when hunting in the mountains I do not want to lose much weight at all. I usually bring in 32 oz food/day which puts me right around 3840 calories/day and I still lose around one lb/day in the backcountry. Which is about 3500 calories/day deficit. I'm not willing to lose anymore than that.
-
far to heavy for day trips..almost full with film gear and little hunting stuff :chuckle: just walking to my treestand it weight almost 40 lbs
-
Phelps--you and I are about the same size. I neeeeed my grub. Maybe that's me spoiling myself but I need to eat.
I'm about 225#.

ya im the first to admit im not the healthy hunter...typicaly lose all my body fat an then some more...im only 5'9" tho at 155,will end up at 145 after a few days but i never realy seem to have any problems,i usualy snack my life away but tend to "forget" to eat my first an second meals a day...so one mtn house with snacks per day...yes ive crashed but as a result i know my limits
-
also every thing is pending on the time of year, cold weather = more food/day....longer trip=more food/day
-
My pack weighs 30 pounds with everything I need for a full day in the woods. And a night if I had too.
-
I just weighed mine last night. Right at 40# for a 4 day hunt in the wilderness. Thats with my spot scope and tripod. I am 6'2"and 230 and taking in 1350 cal a day. Not really enough, but I will survive! Plan on coming out with a 110# load

One food that is really good to put in your pack if you need calories is peanut butter. I think 2 tablespoons is about 200 calories, but more important those 2 tablespoons has 16 grams of fat in them and 8 grams of protien.. And that fat is great for you, if you are doing a back country trip and burning a lot of calories. Some company use to sell it in a tooth paste tube, which made it easy to eat and carry in the backcountry.
-
I agree on the peanut butter. I usually have http://www.justinsnutbutter.com/ (http://www.justinsnutbutter.com/) (excuse the name) or the Jif to Go (http://www.jif.com/Products/Details?categoryId=276 (http://www.jif.com/Products/Details?categoryId=276)). Easy to pack and tastes good.
John you are going to be nothing but stick and bones when we get there :P

Including my bow I'm at 45 lbs for 5 days. Does anyone else think that Cam Hanes Toasted Bagels with fried Bacon, honey and Peanut Butter is anything less than spectacular?

Oh, and I'm right at 50#s for a week and I get plenty to eat.

The one I went out with this weekend was 41 lbs, not including gun. That was only 3 days worth of food.
