Title: Winston Model 22, Extended 2"
Post by: Biggerhammer on September 01, 2012, 01:48:49 PM
I purchased a Model 22 from David awhile back and I liked it enough that I wanted the same profile just longer. So I asked David if he would make me a Model 22 and extend the blade 2", he agreed and here is the finished knife. This knife will be at home in the kitchen as well as in the field boning Elk and such. That extra 2" makes for alot of blade, I also had the scales slimmed up quite a bit.

Winston Model 22

Extended 2"

White liners
Silver pins
Black JiggedG10(Slim), bead blasted.

Here's a pic with a Chevy truck Key for a little size perspective.

Can I see the mansion you have set aside just for storage of BA knives and guns and such?

OK, I just have to ask...Are you opening up a store or just attempting to assemble the largest collection of heirloom quality knives in the world?  :chuckle: Thanks to you I have now added exactly 12,142 items to my wish list.  :chuckle:

As always that knife looks superb.

Thanks guys, I never thought anything could be close to as bad as my gun habit. Then I ordered and received my first Gene Ingram custom knife. A #1 Drop Point and that was it, the craftsmanship and the cut were incredible. Then I had to have a different steel to try and one for another use and so forth. I look at it is sort of a investment, they will never loose value. At least that's what I have been telling myself. :)

OK, the the real question is which one of that vast collection of knives do you use daily as your go to knife?

The knife I have carried more often than any of the others is a Gene Ingram No #1 Drop Point. I keep the sheath and lanyard rubbed down with White's leather preservative. The sheath has held out pretty well for the abuse it has taken.

Ingram #1 Drop Point
D2 Steel
Mosaic pins
Northwest Spalted Maple burl scales
3" blade
7 1/4" overall

I ordered a matching set, so one is still as new. Bellow is the teaser pic Gene sent me prior to shipping the set.
