Title: Decent white tail down from 2012; updated with mount pics
Post by: stormin85 on September 08, 2012, 11:46:18 AM: shot him last monday morning, almost passed on him, but let it fly and he went about fifteen yards.

not sure how big he is, but he is the biggest deer i have shot rack wise, my buck last year weighed more but didn't have as big of a rack.

let me know what you think, its the first deer i am getting mounted so pretty excited about that.

Post by: stormin85 on September 08, 2012, 12:06:21 PM: yeah when i first saw him he didn't look as big as he was, so i was going to wait and see if any other deer got up, but then my hunting partner said he was bigger than i thought, so i centered the pin and let it go, made the best shot i have yet, right behind the shoulder, took the lung top of the heart and a part of the other lung, i cant get the pic to upload but it was perfect placement.

Post by: stormin85 on September 08, 2012, 12:09:47 PM: this was my second bow buck, last year was first, my goal has been to shoot a mature buck each year, he looked ittle young, maybe three ish? but i am not great at judging age on deer. still really happy with him, and that fact that his eye guards are bladed. thats something i have always hoped for.

haha no, but if that helps i guess i'd wear them, i'm not picky about clothes i just throw on whatever is clean lol

Post by: stormin85 on September 10, 2012, 07:45:33 AM: yeah i am very lucky, we have some great friends who let us and a lot of others hunt their property and i have been pretty lucky with the last couple deer, hopefully the trend keeps up, and i don't want people thinking i was like "oh i'll pass on him he isn't big" i meant it as when i first saw him a ways out he didn't look as big as he was, as i got closer i realised he was definitely worth a shot.

anyways thanks for all the comments, i'm super excited to get the mount back, got about a five month wait. will update with pics when i do though.

turned out pretty good. happy to have it back and on the wall. not sure what he scores as I have not actually scored a deer, hopefully I will have some luck this late season so me and the wife can each put down another nice buck to go on the wall with him :chuckle:
