I have 3 kids and am looking for a good south sound pier to go drown some herring at and maybe get a dogfish or 2 or maybe even a flounder or perch. None of the 3 has ever caught a fish before of any size so i thought maybe grab some frozen herring and give it a shot.
Thought about fox island pier but it is way far up off the water. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I would say the Point Defiance boat house, they have a fishing area to fish from and bathrooms. Small store of stuff and they do sell live bait if that's what you want. :twocents:

Les Davis on ruston way too. Also gettin to be squidin time soon too (nov., dec., jan.). Take kids to do that. Its easy, fun and can be very, very cold. Good luck. Also use trout gear for flounder. Kids love it

Go fish on the boat docks In Allyn. Walk across the fixed pier to the floating wooden docks that raise and lower with the tide. There are a couple boats mored there from time to time but its a great quite place to take the kids and there is a park there as well. I fished there a few years ago and we cought a few dog fish. Just check the regs before fishing Case inlet. I'm almost 100% sure anyone can still go down and fish there I take my kids down there all the time to the park and its a public dock.
Check it out

Clyde Davidson pier in Steilacoom. It's connected to the ferry pier so don't let the signs about no fishing fool ya. They only mean off the ferry pier. Fishing pier was built for fishing. (and maybe the personal moorage there.)
