Anyway a long standing friend of mine and a couple other guys have gotten most of Bill's manufacturing equipment, supplies and materials. Bill's stick bows and recurves were sold worldwide and he also made bows for Bear,Savora Damon Howitt(Martin Archery). Anyway he said in his last e-mail that they are sorting thru all the bow forms etc. He said they have at least 2000 glass laminates cut to length for the Bear Black Tail Hunter which I believe was the 2nd generation White Tail hunter. I know that's going back quite a ways for most of you. Also they have a bunch of the old wood risers and wood core limbs for the early compounds. Anyway the latest plan is for them to ramp up under a new name sometime in the future. I really don't want to name any names yet until they actually start the business. Just to say that my friend has archery hunted about the same length of time as I have (39yrs+) and has been building some fine stick bows and recurves for the past 5 or 6 yrs if not more. Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch but it wasn't meant to be, just passing some info along.

I have an older wood riser compond with a cracked limb. I bought it off my uncle a long time ago, its in good shape but one limb has a hair line crack running down it :'(. My dad as an Old recurve thats in great shape.

Bill was a great story teller and such a piece of Bowmaking history wrapped up into one person. I sat in his shop and ordered up one of his 'multi-cam' bows simply because of the ingenuity of that design. 3 days later he passed from a heart attack.
After several years of wondering if his son or anyone would take up where he left off, I was happy to see Roy Coursey of Cook's Mountain Archery get ahold of the rights to produce the 'multi-cam' limbs. He uses his own riser design. I will someday pick-up one of Bill's bows on the used market JUST BECAUSE!
I look forward to hearing more about your friends venture.

i know that the recurve that i had made when i was 15 years of age by bill is my favorite bow i have ever owned, took a little getting used to but i think the total is 5 3D shoots won, countless squirrels, and about 5 grouse bagged with that thing. along with scaring a few deer away. great guy.

I think the first Bow I ever shot was one of those old brown bear blacktail hunters. I actually have an old Bear whitetail hunter with the extra wheels on the riser. Brings back old memories :chuckle:

I used to hunt with Bill a little on the Nile Creek Ranch. He was a good guy. I have one of his recurves. Good to see his legacy lives on.
