title says it all. What is yours?
Mine would probly be a #5 blue fox in chartruese, or all black. Next would have to be a little cleo, firetiger or silver in color.
What about you guys?
-
Where?
-
in the river. any river.
-
Once they hit the river all I can catch them on is a big, weighted treble hook. Works every time! :yike:
-
silver #4 blade bug body mepps with a single hook, but the treble hook with some weight works well to :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Tiny half & half Dicknite :yike: but that is not working at this time either :bash: :bash: :bash: they are thick ...need some damn rain to put some color in the water , then sheet will change real quick !
-
how'd you do on the stilly bh?
-
Fireball red corkie and black yarn and a #2 Octo hook
-
So who's is this :chuckle: I found it in the Stilly
-
thats a good set up right there boys :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: :fishin:
-
Yup that's a good one kola. It also works good in red or green! :chuckle:
-
usually you put your weight underneath the hook lol ;)
-
A frog or 50/50 dick nite, and a firetiger or solid red, orange, or pink plug. Casting not trolling, hit the backsides of the rip water and close to structure. I had an old timer last year troll past me as i was casting plugs and say "you know those work better if you troll them". My response was, "How many fish do you have bled out today?" He said "One nice one". About that time my buddy and I pulled out 3 coho about 12-16lbs from the fish box. The old guy didnt have much to say about me casting plugs after that
-
Cleo or Bolo for me. Depends on what water I am fishing as to which one I prefer more. Probably landed more with the Bolo since it fits more of the water I fish.
-
Thats how they catch Steelhead in Lake Erie ...its legal :dunno:
-
#5 squid spinner, or eggs.
-
Fluor green mepps #5 if it is in the river. Slow and low.
-
Pink bell blue fox number 5 for me.
-
anyone else use the all black blue fox? I was surprised with it

Have had good luck in dark water steelhead fishing with it. But have never used it for Coho. Though we have had some success with Michael Jackson and cop car plugs in the past.
-
Pink and chrome spinners.
-
i don't think color matters all that much usually, as it does to get something obnoxious in their face.
-
Green and chartreuse #5 Blue Fox Vibrax with a chrome blade. Just bought a bunch today, Sunbirds has em on sale. I have also had great luck with green or blue pirate wiggle warts.
-

use to knock the snot outta kings with the all black mepps spinner back in the day when you could still fish the stuck river
-
Mouth of the Klick. by Lyle I use a French Whore Wiggle Wart ( metallic pink) or a Reba McIntyre Wart ( Flour. Orange w/metal flakes)
-

:yeah:
Super salmon slayer setup! 60% of the time...it works, every time!

Metallic Purple or Blue works well too....
-
green plastic flasher, 3' leader, ace-fly-hi with a herring shoved up its a$$, and no less then 4 knots  but then again I have a reputation for not being able to fish...
-
I tie a few flies that seem to work okay.

-
Blasting caps or a half stick of TNT. :chuckle:
-
Has anyone said eggs yet? :dunno:
-
Eggs work! or The #4 or 5 Fox, whatever color I only have one left of...or the 1/3 oz. Little Cleo, or Dick Nite. I hear they are hitting shrimp in the Stilly, but I have been getting them in the Sound with herring or mini green squid.
-
Caught some in the 6-8 pound range around Hartstine/Squaxin islands this weekend on the good old #5 Blue Fox Vibrax in green. The coho are stating to show in the South Sound pretty good right now. On our way back in I watched a guy fight about an 8 pounder at Hunter Point. He was doing like I did, fishing with a 6- 61/2 trout rod with light line. Makes for a fun fight when you don't have a net and have to wear them out on light gear.
-
Eggs are about my least favorite coho offering. They seem to hit hardware just as well, and fishing eggs is a lot more of a pain.

i've had a rough time so far in the skagit. i know the fish are there, maybe not in huge numbers, but they just wont hit anything. I've tried dick nites, little cleos, blue foxes, they just won't hit...very frustrating...any help???

Yep...........patience :chuckle: You can try to floss them, but you will be bashed by a lot of people for it.
-
White corky, single red bead to a 6/0 hook with an 18' leader. :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: Only thing they "bite" on in the Stilly right now :chuckle:
-
i bet haha
-
I hear they are hitting shrimp in the Stilly
Shrimp in the Stilly? isn't there a no bait rule on that river?
If I had one lure to choose it would be a well tied fly

Below Marine Drive you can use bait.

Including me. The fish are sporadic biters this time of year with the low water. It should be game on once it rains. If you want to catch them consistently early you should head west and fish in tidewater.
-
had a taker today, saw it hit about 10 feet off shore, i set the hook, and my knot comes undone! :bash: :bash: :bash: :dunno:
-
Speaking of flossing. I saw a guy on the Puyallup yesterday evening with 11 foot leader. I think he went to the long leader as he did not know the tribe was netting the river.
