Title: Blacktail tactics
Post by: Ursus Arctos on September 13, 2012, 08:36:38 PM
Hey new guy here! Long story short... been bow hunting for twenty years, just got back into it after three year hiatus. New dad as well! This leaves me with little time to get out. I have found a great place in Sultan to hunt and have been out once. I missed a shot on a does at 25 yards ( completely my fault.Target panic!) I like to hunt along clear cuts next to old second growth. I called the.three does in with a fawn call. Came in snorting!  Anyone have any other tips? I am just looking for a fat doe to fill the freezer. Thanks!

I prefer to hunt clear cuts next to reprod. Blacktails live in reprod, it has everything they need including feed, but the less experienced deer come out to clear cuts to feed, especially in a clear cut that is 3-5 years old.

Find a gated road with something like this, walk in, keep the wind in your face (when stocking an animal) and remember to pick a spot on the deer to set your pin on and squeeze the trigger.
