I was thinking about lookin over this area since its close to home ..if anyone wants to share some info let me know ...PM me if you want . I just do not have alot of time to mess around this year because work has seriously picked up for me ...I would appreciate it and if you want someone to tag along I am willing to do that ...that season is prime time for calling in some bulls and thats all I care about ...Hell I would love just to call one in for someone if they choose !!!!

from what i have heard any elk in 448 are Nooksack elk that have wandered south and are few and far between. I don't believe there is a resident herd in that area. dont quote me on this just what I've been told. although i could swear that last time i was fly fishing on the stilly outside of oso i swear i heard one bugle.
-
:hello: I have not hunted there, but I do know where some are. Maybe we can do some info swapping (fishing the Skagit for elk). But the heard that I know of is much like NE elk. Oh, and I am 95% sure that there is a resident population.
-
Yeah I am sure they are Nutsack elk that have moved that direction .. I remember someone posting trail cam pictures of a couple nice bulls on the stilly ... just can not remember who .....

Look at harvest reports for 448 not very many have been killed over the years. I wouldn't put to much faith into the unit. :twocents:
-
I just realized that I was referring to elk in the sauk  :bash: Close enough :chuckle: Can't hunt there either :P
-
yeah but sauk is part of the unit :dunno: and I hear ya D-ROCK but that does not mean they are not there and you can not find one ....I just do not want to put much into it if I do not have too !! :chuckle: :chuckle: Heck I may run over to 336 and try to find me a spike ...just does not sound like that much fun ..but meat is meat ...I used to see lots of spikes over there but I have not muzzy hunted over there in many years ..
-
:chuckle: Again I mean the Sauk unit 437
-
:yike: Yeah I do not think I need help in that unit ...437 ... the bulls that are roaming that unit will make to sheet your pants ...it just peeees me off they will not give out a couple tags for that unit ... I have seen one that would for sure hit the 380 to 400 mark and they are growing bigger every year ...... :bash: :bash:

yes 448 does have a small herd but they travel back and forth between 448 and 460 from that info you should be able to figure things out.

I use to hunt that unit for blacktail pretty hard. I spent a lot of time in the woods and never saw an elk. I am not saying that there are none, but I wouldn't waist my time. If you could find a local that had some info, that would be a different story.
