Title: Better picture of decent buck
Post by: EastWaViking on August 23, 2008, 09:25:52 AM
I got a better picture today of the buck I posted a week or so ago, and a couple other shots of other deer and yotes.  Not a bad "later in the season" buck.

How old do you think the top buck is? Looks like hes got a couple more years to go.

I don't think he's any older than 2 1/2 do you?

Kind of what I was thinking. Another 3 - 3 years on him would be nice! Is that private land?

Yes, it's pretty much all private around here.  Very few bucks get the extra 3 years to grow
in this area.  I did pass on at least 15 bucks last year that were his size or bigger, going
after a monster.....that an out of stater ended up shooting the last day of late rifle.

I once ran into a guy in northern Idaho that told me that he hunted north central washington and got bigger bucks up there then he did in Idaho every year. I guess if you have a really good place to hunt it would be worth the non res fees. In the petersons hunting magazine I got the other day it showed the nonresident fees for all the Western states and Washington was in the top two.
