Hi yall. im planning to go to yakima and hunt west side of the town (because i see it that its GMU deer hunting area). now when i get there, will i encounter and gates or anything like that or is it legally accessible? i never been on a deer hunt before so i dont wnat to run into anything when i get there

Deer population is down big time in the Yakima area... Sounds like you are talking about hunting the cowichie gmu, which is made up of some dnr land(you will need a discovery pass for state land) and usfs land. Lots of public land, just not many deer.

Head south instead of east. There is most likely better hunting, more deer, about the same pressure, and big savings in fuel in areas just south of you. Unless you are set on a mule deer or you just want to hunt the east side ;).

I've seen a few posts from you. I appreciate your curiosity. Coming from tacoma, I would hunt the SW areas also. Stick to blacktail. Lots of country to hunt. Many, many other hunter too but, still plenty of pockets of land that you can work alone. Remember when your out hunting....your not hiking. Keep your head up, pay attention to your surroundings. Listen, listen, listen to your environment. Be patient. Good luck
