Title: 560
Post by: washelkhunter on September 20, 2012, 06:06:16 AM
Heading in to 560 today to do some trail clearing/marking and setup a few blinds in prep for the MF elk. After we get that done and have some lunch we'll see about doing a setup for some bear calling and checking on a few possible campsites. Should make Walking Man around 16:30 or so for a few micros and a tasty pizza. I got a plan for the day!

There is 2 lucky SOB's who drew rifle elk tags in there now. Looks like the WDFG is giving the westside  rifle guys some rut opportunities.

Went down in there yesterday hacking, chopping, sawing and made a nice trail then set up a couple good blinds. Walked a mile down this old skidder then cut over to a meadow i wanted to check out. There was water just pouring out of this hillside we where walking across made it very difficult to traverse. Where did it come from? Morning started out cool but it ended up being a broiler up there around noon. Note to self: eat a good breakfast and drink lots of water before doing that again. I ended up dehydrated and almost sick for lack of water. Emptied my bottle and had a snickers. That got.me back to the rig and more water and some nice wraps my wife made for us. Ugh! Well before we started the work debated what gun to take, rifle or shotgun. Chose the rifle and we flushed a dozen grouse. Didnt see any hair at all. Go figure. Late afternoon we made Walking Man for sweet hoppy salvation. Ah! Life is good in the SW corner.  :brew:
