what kinda tripod are you all using. Like to keep it light but quality is a must.
Thanks

Shag, I have a Bogen Manfrotto with the pistol grip, full size. Awesome tripod but too heavy, use it for the truck mostly. Picked up a K&K outta Oregon a few months ago, nice little tripod, light, rugged, and also has a pistol grip of thier design. They were at the portland sportsman show last year, mightta seen them? Anyway, good tripod, fits in the side of my Badlands 2200 nicely, and its light!! Hope this helps. Later

I also have a Manfrotto. I have the carbon fiber one and it is not to bad on weight as it is size. I bought the Brunton ball head for mine and that is where the most weight is. I will have to check out the K&K's 257. How big of a scope are you putting on yours? I have a swaro 20-60x80. I am wondering if it may be too small.

ST 80 also, but I use my 15X56's waaaay more now. It will handle a ST80 though...

Pretty cool, I just looked it up on the internet. Does anyone local carry them? I think I have seen that head at sportsmans. Also How much did you pay if you dont mind me asking?
-
At the show they were $315.00, I got my on BTC from a member for $175.00 to the door. Think he used it on 2 backcountry trips, pretty much new. I'll run it through the gauntlet here, Idaho, and Montana this year, I spends lots of time behind the big eyes....
I'll let you know how she works out.

Here is the one I pack, holding my scope in the background. It is increadibly short when compacted, making it easy to fit in any pack, very light and gets tall enough to be over my head when sitting if need be. This is my second one of the same brand and model, I gifted my first one to WF70 with a Nikon spotter after buying my Swaros a few years ago and he still uses it today, its very good quality :twocents:
