Just had to post this before anyone else. :chuckle:
My wife just watched off the back deck for about 15 minutes as a spike and a 2x2 went at it. She doesn't really have anything to base it against but she said they seemed to be going at it in more than just a "practice fight". Said they locked up, raking antlers and banging heads pretty hard and shoved each other hard multiple times, grunting, stomping, snorting, and raking the ground with their hooves. Said they would go hard for about a minute or 2 and take a break for a minute or 2, snorting, grunting, and circling each other then back at it they went. She tried to get video but the woods were still pretty dark and all she had was her video camera. Wish I was there.

Congrats...you're the first 'rut/winter/etc is going to be early because I saw a ____" post of 2012. :IBCOOL: :chuckle:

They're already shedding, haven't you found any fresh brown yet?
-
I saw one with fresh antler growth.. had 3 or 4 nubs already.... dang you guys are slow...
-
I saw next years fawns on grazing on the side of the road on my way to work this morning. I think what my wife saw was the start of next Octobers rut :chuckle:

Hey all, I am new around here.... got drawn for a big bull tag in the Dayton unit... never been east of Auburn... can someone send me GPS coordinates of the biggest bulls, and the farmers fields he is most likely to be seen in closest to the road (so I can use my mirror on the truck for a deadrest) and I can drive to the carcass and load it with help of the Mossback crew....
Oh, and this is my first post.....
-
I just shot a huge 180 class buck that I got pics of on trail cam last year (2012). Of course I don't have time to post a story or pics yet, but I will try later. But it really did happen. :chuckle: :chuckle:

I'm going archery hunting this weekend, anyone have a good recommendatio for a bow? :tung:

Hi all, I've bee lurking for a while but this is my first post. I read yesterday that it's any bull elk up in the NE corner. WOOHOO!!! No more spike only hunts!! Anyway, where are the elk up there and does anyone have private property I can hunt them on? Thanks!! Oh I also need a ride up there and if I can stay in your camp that would be great.
-
whats the best brightest flashlight that i can attach to my bow? :dunno: :chuckle:
-
You guys are all hilarious! :chuckle: I love getting some mid-day humor!
-
I was baiting deer with my peanut butter and this bear accidentally came in.....
-
380 bulls, 600 pound bears, and 30 pound steelhead..........
-
I saw a ram with over a full curl, he was pushing 2 full curls, I let him walk because he was too far out for my 300 winchester ultra supreme magnum...I think he was like 200 yards away. I just didn't feel comfortable taking the shot since it was in the Woodland Park Zoo
-
Where can I camp in the Winston unit and will the gates be locked up this year?
-
 :tup:DID YOU SEE TAHT BOBCAT!!! IT WAS HUGE!@#@#$%$#
-
380 bulls, 600 pound bears, and 30 pound steelhead..........
Hey, that steelhead was all of 30 lbs.... well ok 21 after I detached the 5 lb. snagging lead, and snipped the adipose fin off... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
My buddy's friend's cousin's wife told him that WDFW said all big game seasons would be shut down then reopened and extended after fire season.
-
Sorry, meant to get back to you guys earlier but I was out checkin my trail cam. Some SOB stole it!! I put it in a sweet ass spot that I'm sure the elk were using, it was right along a green-dot road and in plain sight but come on man private property is private property. Or is it? I can't remember if I was on private property or not, it wasn't posted so I don't think it matters. Anyway I'm going to go buy a new trail cam now and try to rattle in a 6x6 blacktail in the Cheney unit since the rut already started.
Happy hunting!!
-
I'm actually really glad i started this thread. I was hoping you guys would focus on what my wife saw but, this turned out so much better :chuckle:
-
Huntwa get together in the Clockum, natives and whites all come together for a barbecue. 2 six point bull s have been slow cooking for a week, try our new sage smoked tenderloins.......ok, maybe thats not funny
-
I got drawn for a Modern quality blue mountains foothills east tag this year super excited except I am reading this is mainly all private land. So I am planning on heading over the day before the season opens, and knocking on some doors. You guys could save me allot of trouble if you could let me know of any landowners who would give access. I am not looking for your secret spots just the private land access that some good spots are on. Also I am bringing my quad with me to help me get my deer out (also doubles as a great rifle rest in a pinch ;))
-
I got drawn for the Stevens county OIL wolf tag....
I think i will make WOLF rice a roni.....

This thread is seriously cracking me up

Does calling and rattling work for blacktails? I must have 3 bottles of does piss sprayed on the bill of my cap and still nothing's come up to my blind, which is in the ditch of the mainline road...where some a-hole stole my cam from last week >:(
-
I have had more smiles out of this thread than I have in awhile.
-
I found this wierd looking thing strapped to a tree...looks like it has a camera lense on it and theres a screen inside that says enter password..anyine know how to get a password? I dont know why soneone would leave this in the woods with all the thieves running around.
:chuckle:
-
I have a disabled (youngster, combat vet, dad has terminal ___). Not looking for any honey holes, just a good info to put them on a nice buck. PM me ok, your secret is safe with me. :chuckle:
-
NEW STATE RECORD shot. I heard about it. Guess its a big one.........

You are doing it all wrong! You have to gargle the doe piss so your breath doesn't alert the deer to your presence!

Probably driving over and wasting the gas to find C-Post due to someone here on the forum mentioning the great hunting and he took it seriously,, since NO ONE messes with a Sasquatch... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Hi everyone, I'm out hunting right now and am seeing deer everywhere. I had to drive around a locked gate with a sign that said "Closed to Public Access", but I don't have a lot of free time so I have to get my hunts in when I can. I shot a deer with my bow like an hour ago, but it ran off and since I didn't see it tip over I just kept hunting. I'll probably switch to rifle now, is this what you guys would do? Any bullet recommendations? I have a .338, a 375 H&H, and an AK47 with me, which would you use? Or should I just stick with my bow and maybe try some exploding tip arrows? I have some of those, man wouldn't that be awesome?
Anyway, I don't even think hunting season is open where I'm at but who cares, whack em and stack em right??? Any tips on good hunting areas would be great
-
Anybody else hear of the Big foot sighting by Snoqualmie Pass?

Not that big. He's just long arming it
-
Long arming it and not wearing orange, because I'm a poacher. No way I take that crap off for a picture, just sticking it to the man!!
I also took my boot off and posed it against the deer's back so that it would "look" like I'm acutally sitting right against the deer. I was really 6 feet behind it. And we were in the sequim animal park. (photoshopped out the dart). You too can have your picture taken with fluffy the deer.

Hey guys, just had some great sex with the wife. Now she is cutting me off until I bring home a deer :dunno:. I haven't hunted in 5 years but would love to hunt one of your honey holes that way I don't have to scout and I can get back to the bedroom Olympics ASAP. Any help would be appreciated.
-
Send her on over....I'll help where I can.
-
Where can a guy find a good crossbow for archery season? What's your preferred expandable broadhead? I'm thinking Swacker
-
Pretty sure the first 3.5" have been handled already, H20.
-
Well, that's a dumb rule. Why can't we use illuminocks in Washington??
-
So what you are telling me is you are swinging by?
I have forgotten what this thread is about? Anyone wanno go catch some crab this weekend?
-

I would but, I have an appointment with my boss. He's taking me out for a canary rockfish fishing trip
-
I'm in. I've got the best crab bait ever - native coho/chinook/steelhead adipose fins. Got a bunch of 'em over the summer. Froze them in blocks with seal flipper. The rears, not the fronts.
-
Man....it's been weeks since I've had fresh rockfish!
-
If I get a few extras, I'll trade you some for some meat off your third bear when you get it.
-
Deal...also....since I've only shot a doe, not a buck, I've saved my tag. There is a HUGE 170 class two point I'm going to take a shot at. We can swap bear meat, gall bladder, or some of the 2pt ( whatever I end up taking....backstraps probably) for some.

Poll:
Which is better for hunting?
.243 Winchester
Browning
7mm/06
.280 Remington
7mm Remington Express
30 caliber bullets
Slick Tricks 100gr
-
Oh....good questions...........
.243 Winchester...........................this one because I only take headshots
Browning.................this one because I always root for the Browning crew on Axe Men
7mm/06......................this one because it has 'ought six at the end
.280 Remington...............this one becuase it is for "real" shooters
7mm Remington Express............this one becuase express is always better
30 caliber bullets..............this one because the odds of having it forensically tested is higher than average
Slick Tricks 100gr............this one because you don't need to tune them unless shooting past 100 yards...
how'd I do?
-
If you want the number of predation livestock kills to be reduced simply increase the predator numbers by 25%, it's that simple!
-
You did great, except you forgot to complain that I didn't put your favorite thing to use in there.
So what you are telling me is you are swinging by?
Just saw this... :chuckle:
Yep. I like to play safe so I fold it in half and keep the business end to myself.
-
Good to know.....wearing a ladies thong realy helps with placement I hear.
-
:o
You and D-Rock been chatting while watching The View again?
-
Yep. We love the view. The gals have so many good things to say. The fat one says something and D-Rock is like, I know, right...totally!. Then, the ugly one says something and I'm like OMG she totally knows me and what I'm all about. Then....the other one...the mouthy botox one says something and we are both like ROFL and looking at each other like what, I know right!
-

It's obvious that you are a big fan of the show. :chuckle:
-
This is exactly why I don't post kill pics on here anymore........ I personally taped it at 486 2/8".
-
I saw a flock of migrating geese yesterday....it's gonna be snowy winter.
Man, can't wait for the deer opener!
-
cooler mornings has gotten me thinking now  :bfg: For my son Ted and :archery_smiley: for me come late season ...
-
I ate some excellent peach cobbler for desert last night.
-
When you catch a native steelhead, and he takes treble hook on your blue fox way back into the gills, what's the best way to get the barbs out? I keep holding through the gills on the other side but I just get all bloody. Anyhow, why do you think they swim on their backs when you put em back? Mine was all slimey so I wiped it all down, I guess rivers are filthy.

You don't have to lie to fit in around here, curly

I just heard from my sisters, inlaws, cousins, grandchilds, aunts dog that a NEW STATE RECORD has been shot somewhere in the vicinity of Discovery Park... it came to me by a facebook text, and the photo is amazing... unfortunately I do not have permission to post it here... maybe the hunter will eventually find this forum, sign up, find this thread I started and show us his trophy...
-
Good lord! this has the makings to rival the "where am I" thread in post counts.... Some funny chit though...
-
I decided I want to try archery hunting next year...I got me a crossbow with a laser sight, and some lumenoks cause I heard they extend your maximum range out to like 120 yards. I just need a good spot to setup my tree stand and decoy. If you don't want to advertise your honey-hole just PM me. I promise only to share it with relatives, close personal friends and people I meet on the bus. By the way I'll need a ride and some help setting my my tree stand.
-
I really just want to try some wildgame to see if hunting is for me, anyone have a package or so to spare so i can try it.
I am interested in all game animals, so any extras steaks, roasts, backstraps from deers, bears, elks would be great.
Thanks....oh and can you deliver
-
Went for a walk in the hills today. Saw some Eagles... or maybe turkey vultures or sparrows... too similar to tell... anyway, saw them flying in crazy circles and doing aerobatic dances and stuff... does this mean the turkey rut is over?
-
PRIMARY Turkey rut is over....secondary turkey rut is just beginning. Usually...the younger dumber ones killed killed off first. However, I've heard of a bunch of jack knobs that think calling at night in between the two seperate turkey ruts is fun. They are educating the birds and ruining it all for us. Most people get distracted with the eagles (and hawks) flying in on your decoys. I'd shoot 'em all first, then, when the secondary rut kicks in you are good to go!
-
I shot this buck at 98 yds with my bow today...i only had a 60 yd pin but i just held high...i think i gut shot it...some green gross stuff on the ground...it stopped after about 10yds...i looked for another 10min but couldnt find it...what do you guys think i could have done better? Also..these deer in the area are too tough and keep running off when shot so does anyone have a spot they could point me to with wimpy deer? Im not askin for honey holes unless you want to show me..i wont tell anyone....i can also hit a deer on the run at 100yds with my bow
Btw this early rut is great...bucks everywhere..there bedding down in the middle of the road :yike:

Will take the same, but will pickup if in the Marysville Everett area :chuckle:
-
I saw 6 deer in a group. The migration is going to be early this year.
-
I have been getting this Big Foot Like creature :yike: on my game camera for almost a year now. Can someone tell me what I should do? I would post the pics but they are way too grainy to see. Why is it that it takes perfect pics except for when it comes to this creature. :dunno:
-
went to the woods today and
Biggest I've ever seen
So not sure if I should do that again
First time for everything I guess
What do you guys think?
Fill in the Blanks Game................................... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I went out scouting today and ended up getting 35 grouse with my handgun. Best shot I took at one was from 100 yards and I took his head clean off, didn't lose an ounce of meat.
On the way back to the truck I managed to get this nice color phase bear crossing my path, luckily I had a few rounds left so I dropped him where he stood, sucker must be at least 7 feet and weigh in at like 500+. All the photos are on my phone I will upload them soon...
-
Never happened without pics..... of said handgun!

I saw the indians gathering a lot of firewood - Gonna be a long, cold winter
