Title: Coweeman Doe Tag. Need help.
Post by: kerrdog on September 25, 2012, 10:26:18 AM
I've pulled a special permit for doe for Coweeman, but I'm hearing that Weyerhauser has everything closed.  Can anyone tell me if there is a part of Coweeman that I can access for this hunt.

Thanks in advance.

Check out some maps, such as the Cowlitz County Assessor's database.  Knock on doors.  There's virtually no public land in the Coweeman, aside from a small block in the SE corner (see WDFW maps).

Keep an eye on Weyco's recreational access line.  They may open it at the last second for next weekend (elk opener).  I assume you're talking about muzzleloader season?

Thanks shorhair15. I've tried to call the access line and get a recording that talks about the St. Helens Tree farm.  Is that Coweeman? Is there another number?  If you notice that they open up can you give me a heads up?  Thanks again.

When it opens there will probably be a minimum of 3 posts started here within the 1st hour of  the announcement, you'll know! :chuckle:

the bad thing is it will have to rain alot for about two weeks before they open it to public access as that is what it took last time it was dry like this. they weather will change soon. yes the coweeman unit is part of the st helens tree farm. if they dont open it maybe you can call wdfw and see if you can return the permit and  get your points back.
