I started shooting the PowerBelt Bullets this Summer and cant wait to hunt with them this weekend. Shooting the 245Gr AeroTip behind 80Gr. of 2F loose Powder. Have heard lots of negatives about these bullets, I believe everyone is shooting these bullets with the magnum charges and are having blowups on skin contact. Powerbelts website shows you what bullet to shoot for witch load and charge. These bullets need to be shot with no more than 100Gr. I perfer to 70 to 90 Range. 2.5" @ 100 yrds. And am pretty confident with Muley Kills out to 150yrds. (If my sights arent bigger than he is at that distance). Easy to load and from research the Aerotip has a slower expansion rate with good posibility for a pass through shot on deer. Got to love Muzzy Hunting, what is your guys take? Anyone killing deer with the lighter Powerbelt Bullets? Thanks.

I have used them for years and have liked them. In the past I have used the all lead hollow point when jacked bullets were not leagal. since than I have used the aero tip jacketed bullet with good luck. five plus deer and a couple of elk have all been killed with them. I did shoot a nice buck at 10 yards with the all lead ones in 2006 and the bullet did break up pretty good on contact but the buck died instantly and what do you expect at 10 yards. I use 115 grains of triple 7 and I think a 348 grain bullet out of my 54 caliber Remington 700ML and it loads easy and works everytime. Happy hunting to all!!

used them for whitetails, good expension, but not great penetration, the 295gr are better.. 245gr in a .50 fulldiameter isnt much weight.. heck a roundball weighs 177gr.

I shoot a muley buck with a 444 gr. solid a few years back. It was a liver/lung and out shot. It stumbled a few yards then down. One big hole. Worked great.

Thats a big Bullet. Do you believe you need that much? Im a fan of lighter and longer bullets. 245gr might be a tad light for Muleys @ 100 yrds. But I wont go above the 295gr, next year.

A lighter bullet is going to be shorter, not longer . :dunno:

I use a 348 with 100 grains of Triple-7. I've taken five deer with Powerbelts, and they've always worked very well. Minimal damage to meat and bone, but excellent knock-down power. I've never had them fragment, even at a shot of 20 yards. I know 348 might be a bit heavy, but at the range I shoot (out to 100 yds), it hasn't seemed to matter in terms of trajectory.

The only problem I have ever had using power belts is they seem to let moisture past them and I was not watching close enough in the snow a couple years ago ended up with a hang fire that sounded like a weak load out of a flintlock.

245gr powerbelt will kill, shot 2 deer with them and they did the job within seconds. No shoulder or heavy bone shots, hit them in the lungs.
