Just bought a wild games innovation cam micro 5 red. Only $89 I never wanted to spend the money but at that price I thought I would give it a go. So let's hear it did I waist my money Or is this a good deal?

That's a fair price for that camera, you definitely did not waste your money. There was a better deal on Amazon last winter. They had the same camera but 6 megapixels, for $50. I got two of them. There will likely be bargains like that again, starting in January when the new models are being introduced, and retailers are trying to get rid of the old stuff.

I have been baiting my dog in the back yard and it seems like it is hard to get the thing to go off.

Mine seems to have a very good sensor. Tonight when I checked it, it took my picture as I was walking to it, at about 50 feet away. I've also gotten many pictures of robins and woodpeckers, which really surprised me. It does have narrow range it seems. You have to pretty much be directly in front of it. But it's really all in your setup. You can test it by walking around in front of it and watching the red light blink. Whenever it does, that means the sensor is picking you up, and it's going to take a picture. When the green light goes on, that means it's recording the picture on the memory card.
Do you have the sensor set to low, medium, or high? I always use high. I did get a few pictures today of just the wind blowing the tree limbs around. But not too many, so I'm leaving it set at high. The only thing I really don't like about the WGI cams, is there is not an option for a multi shot burst. They only take one picture at a time. But at least you can go as short as 15 seconds between pictures, so they still get the job done. Definitely better if you use some kind of bait or attractant.

I got a cheapie at wal Mart last year and it has worked great. Clunks before it takes the pic but that doesn't seem to scare them off.

I bought a Wildgame 3MP Infrared camera a couple of years ago WITH SD card for $65, so given the time and technology advances you got a good deal. I thought mine was defective when I first put it in the back yard and got no pictures of the 150 quail that arrive every evening. Now I get pictures of deer 90 yards away, and pesky Robins and a Blue Jay--Until a hawk got him. (Got a picture of that, too!) :chuckle:
