I too followed my dads footsteps. Gleaning, absorbing , and getting in the way but all the time watching and learning. Just as he did with his dad.
Well when I thought about passing on the hunting tradition, I always thought it would be with my own boys. Well as many on here know 6 yes SIX beautiful daughters later, I decided that the hunting world needed a little more estrogen. (As a side note I did get my little guy #7 :IBCOOL:). Stories about him I am sure will come in do time.
Back to my girls. My oldest two in 2007 drew Utah's youth any bull tags. They had both already killed deer and Bear with bow and gun at the ages of 13 and 16. When they drew the tags we went and conquered.( Their story is already been posted so you will have to look it up). Here are a couple of pics though.
Well not real good with the posting and just deleted about 500 words. To shorten it up. Utah allowed us to buy an additional cow tag. So now we had 2 tags to fill. The first day was uneventfull. Saw a few bulls but no shot opportunities. The second day was a good one . In the late afternoon, we got onto a cow and my daughter made a perfect 80 yard shot. after a few pics we packed her out about a mile and a half.. Now to find a bull.
The next couple days were pretty slow. It was hot and the elk were quite. We sure enjoyed the beautiful country though. I heard through the grape vine that there was a spot with good elk activity and the youth were the only ones that could hunt it . So off we go to do a little scouting and talking with the locals.
We located the elk and on the good advice of a wonderful warden we had the next am hunt planned. Well it worked like it was supposed to and my daughter made her second perfect 250 yard shot. The bull didn't know what hit him . Now we had allot of work ahead of us . We boned and quartered him in 1.5 hrs. I called my Bro. in law and he brought the pack frames. We loaded the meat and were back to the truck by 12[pm. She shot him at 7;30 am. That 2 mile pack out was insane. Thanks to my bro.in law we did it in ONE trip. My daughters pack weighed 75#, my bro. in laws 120#, and mine 160#, all verified on the bathroom scale at home. What a great time.
Ps. pack outs were allot easier 10 years ago. :chuckle:
enjoy the pics.

Added the mancave to the house about three years ago 26X16 with 14 foot vaulted ceilings. Have four bulls 285, 315, 360, and 398 B&C on the wall. Three Mule deer 168, 183, and 186 B&C and one 5x5 whitetail. All shot in Washington state and 1 1/2 hours from the Tri-Cities. The only problem (not much of one actually) is that two out of the four elk and two out of the three mule deer where shot by my daughters!! My 5 oldest are girls and my 6th is my son and now 13 years old with one daughter being the youngest at 11. Just married my oldest daughter off a little over two years ago and my second and third daughters got married last Summer. First grandchild was just born three weeks ago. I have loved hunting with my daughters but I can't lie and tell you that a son is pretty fun also. Happy Hunting and if you are ever in the Tri-Cities drop me a line and stop by and see the cave!

Thanks for the invite dvolmer. I might just do that . Every spring I spend a couple months in the Yakima area for work and drive through the tri cities a lot.
The family history is great. I have six girls and the boy at the rear. We married off my oldest last sept. no grand kids yet. Just took the second to school in Idaho . The rest are in school . The youngest is 6. Your trophy room is similar to mine. 2/3 of all the trophies are my kids. Mostly whitetail and elk with the odd bear rug and cougar.
My younger daughters and son goals to get animals bigger than their sibling. :chuckle: :chuckle:. Sibling rivalry at its finest.
