Anyone have any plans for the Quail, Chukar, Hun Opener this coming weekend (October 6th & 7th)? It's an easy one to skip/forget prior to the Deer and Waterfowl Openers.
Me?...I'll be out somewhere on that Sunday with the Springer. I have to work on Opening Day.

I'll be out. Got the deer already, now to focus on birds.
-
I'LL BE OUT WITH MY WEIMS CHASING QUAIL AND HUNS, MAYBE EVEN CHUKAR. :)

I hope to make it out on the 7th for quail with my gsp

Going to be a depressing year for us in 2012. The little girl is just getting too arthitic to chase anything but flat land pheasant. She knows it is time to chase birds, but a half hour walk just busts her up too much. Maybe a quick quail hunt late in the year but that will be about it for us :'(

Absolutely.

I cried the first time I watched a crippled pheasant out run my ole' dog. Sad seeing them get old. I have a prime age drahthaar just begging for me to get home from Alaska and taker her hunting.....getting close now.

I wish i was heading out for it, but i will be elk hunting instead. So many animals to hunt and so little time :bash: :chuckle:

Be out in the morning before the snakes are active for Huns and quail
The over to another area for chukar. Looks like a good year so far for Huns and quail.
Starting to see some chukar

I just found a huge covey of chukar. Are they called a covey? There were probably 60 in the group. This is in an area where I usually see ten a year at most. Now I am excited. Probably won't be able ot hunt until Monday though.

Saw lots of huns while muzzleloading for mulies. Didn't bag one, so I'll be out again this weekend. Hope to get back over there for the birds later.

I'll be out for quail and huns with my two springers and my new pup.

The only birds I've gone after where ones I can flush when I walk, or grouse. What's the better bird to go after if someone has never hunted over a dog before
-
Huns. They offer the best chance of recovery, other than grouse that is.

what area of the state offers huns? Im assuming the west of spokane near whenatchee in the savannah land, did the fires knock that down any?
