This is the bear I shot on the high hunt this year. Deer were nowhere to be seen and this guy gave me a 25 yard shot so I did not pass on it. Will type more of the story tomorrow.

We went into the high country 3 times this year scouting for bucks and seen 28 shooters but do you think we could find one when opening day showed up? negative! So after Hunting my but off opening day I decided to turn to bear hunting the next morning. I walked down the trail 200 yards from camp and checked the next basin and immediately spotted a monster bear feeding in the berries about 400 yards out. I had my dad with me and we were trying to put together a plan to put a sneak on the bear when he started feeding down the hill and behind some pines below us. Once he fed out of sight we made a plan for my old man to hike to one side of the basin and for me to hike to the other that way hopefully he would feed out below one of us eventually. Well I started down the trail, came around the corner and looked down and theres a bear feeding 25 yards below me with his but facing me. He never knew I was there. I pulled up and waited for him to quarter and shot him through the neck with the 300 ultra mag, the 180 grain bullet did its job! Stoned him deader than a doornail, he rolled about 30yards down hill and luckily got hung up in a little pine tree or he would have went alot farther down. Picture were not the best my old man is not a professional photographer thats for sure. This guy was real thick and heavy. had a pretty good head on him to possibly go book, we will see.
