Title: They don't all have to be hotrod and high-tech.
Post by: Biggerhammer on October 07, 2012, 07:08:18 PM
Grabbed a 7x57 that I'm going to be using this year(Truck rifle) and checked its zero today. This Mauser was given to me by my father 20+ years ago. He received it as a gift from his father on his 15th Christmas(1957) in Ellensberg(39.00 mail order) I shot allot of animals and varmints with it over the years. I'm comfortable with it out to 400yards with the 4x scope. I have other hardware for ranges beond that, it didn't do to shabby today for 300 yards and a 4x Redfield from the stone age. Loaded it up with 5 rounds, the first three were 150gr Hornady SP's which is what it was zeroed for. The last Two were Hornady 162 SP's that I wanted to see where their point of impact would be with the 150gr zero.

Everyone of them would have jacked a Mulie up.

Yup, all in the kill zone. Nice job and it looks like your 162s are a better bet right now.  ;)

I have a 7x57 in a Ruger MKII (my son carries it)  Nice shooting gun. I have a mauser in 8x57 topped with  a 4x with a broken reticle that will shoot about 1.5 in at 100yrds. I can't believe it but it does.
I handload for both of them, and still need to finetune some loads.
