Important message posted at the request of Cedarville Farms Waterfowl Club. If you live in Thurston County, or know people that do; please pay attention to this message and be sure to pass it on. These abuses can happen in any county; make sure you vote for candidates that will protect our rights and freedoms, not take them away.
"Thurston County Hunters and Shooters,
For over three years the current Thurston County Commissioners, Cathy Wolfe, Sandra Romero, and Karen Valenzuela pursued a county wide No Shooting/Hunting Ordinance. The documented proponents of this ordinance, including the three Commissioners and County Staff, numbered less than 200, while the documented opponents numbered over 6000 individual citizens. Even with this overwhelming opposition, Commissioners Wolfe, Romero, and Valenzuela wasted years of Thurston County Staff time and resources in their attempt to enact a county wide No Shooting/Hunting Ordinance in Thurston County.
The proposed ordinance was deemed unjustified and unenforceable by the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife and Thurston County Sheriff’s Department, was constitutionally defective per the U.S. and State Constitution, and was in violation of at least five State Statutes. It served no purpose other than to restrict or ban safe and lawful shooting and hunting by law abiding citizens.
A coalition of organizations and individuals voluntarily united to fight this ordinance and along with the voice of thousands of citizens and a number of our State Representatives it was finally tabled by the Commissioners after three plus years of our effort. They tabled this ordinance because it became “politically radioactive” and Wolfe and Romero are running for re-election, but Commissioner Valenzuela has publically stated that it will be re-addressed after the election.
I want to encourage you to get out and vote in the hope that Commissioners Wolfe and Romero will be defeated so that three years of our time and work will not be in vain. This will also send a clear message to all our representatives that we will not tolerate such an abuse of our rights and freedom.
Please help us get this important message out to your families and friends to get out and vote for Thurston County Commissioner Candidates KAREN ROGERS and ANDREW BARKIS. Their election will keep Commissioner Valenzuela in check and ineffective.
Thank you,
Jon B. McAninch

Good luck with getting them out of there. A couple of replacements would definitely send a message to those elected officials that seem to have no problem wasting taxpayer money on personal agendas. Glad the bill was tabled and hope they lose their positions in this next election.

Pass the word along to every voter you know in Thurston County. If all hunters get out there and VOTE, we can get these people out of office. The incumbent Commissioners are also a direct threat to private property rights.

Keep this on your radar and spread the word. The incumbent Thurston County Commissioners must GO!

I can't believe they're trying this crap gain this year.

Despite overwhelming opposition, the incumbent Thurston County Commissioners passed their Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO); it will impact every citizen and property owner in Thurston County. We must vote the incumbent Commissioners out of office.
The Olympia Master Builders sponsored a CAO Summit to help people understand how this new ominous ordinance will affect all of us.
