Title: Ghost ring mounting question
Post by: andersonjk4 on October 09, 2012, 08:41:04 AM
I mounted a Tru-glo Ghost Ring sight on my CVA Elkhorn instead of the factory iron sight.  I mounted the ring in the same place the factory sight was, which is fairly far forward on the gun.  My question is where everyone else mounts the Ghost ring sights?  I know with a traditional peep and iron sights you typically want the rear sight as far back as you can get it.  But with the large ring of the ghost ring sight it seemed awkward to have it really far back on the gun.  And I would have to do some modifications to the sight to get it to mount into one of the scope mounting holes farther back on the gun.  Anyone out there shooting the Ghost Ring?

I mounted it where the old back sight was.  Seems to work great.  I have them on three muzzy's and they all work great mounted there.

I mounted mine forward where my iron sights were. Worked fine but I didnt like looking through them so I switched back to my tru glo iron sights.long story short while I was muzzy hunting this year. I came up outta of a draw and noticed my iron sights had came loose and were gone. Luckily I had the ghost ring in my pickup. Put them on shot at a dirt claude twice and was off hunting. Ended up getting my buck and doe in a matter off 3 hrs. So they arent as bad as I thought. I will never going hunting without backup sights now.
