O.K. Maybe not around here, but some of the local sea lions/seals are pretty aggressive when stealing fishermens salmon i.e. biting through the landing net.

That sucks for that guy and his dog. I have always felt that when I take my boy out swimming in the sound that he is fair game to the Orcas, seals, sharks, whatever. I feel the same way when we are out scouting or hiking in the woods except in that I case I have my pistol on me. Don't get me wrong, my dogs are SPOILED and live the good life but, when we are in "their neck of the woods/water" crap may happen.

Hadn't thought about that before, but the seal numbers seem to be increasing every year.  I will be carrying from now on when taking the new puppy to the beach.  I have no problem shooting a seal that is going after my dog!
